How to gain your LGV licence –
First of all, you will need to have a medical. This is a routine medical exam, checking your height, weight, blood pressure, an eye sight test and any other conditions that DVLA should be made aware of.
We have a Doctor (Dr Dan) come to our site, he charges around £65. Different Doctors charge different prices so shop around.
Once the medical is complete you need to send your licence off with your D2 and D4 form to the DVLA. (We have the forms here. You fill the D2 form out, the Doctor fills the D4 out)
Then when you get your licence back you will have the provisional entitlement on and you can book your theory tests (Multiple choice £26, Hazard Perception £11, Module 2 CPC Case study £23) Type in Google ‘book my theory test’ click on the GOV.UK link follow the steps, choosing which Pearson’s test centre you want to go to, what date and time suits you.
There are many Apps out there to help you study for the theory tests, some are free, some cost, so which ever works for you. The DVSA “Safe driving for life” site offers some free practice theory tests that you can use to help you or you can pay a subscription, and there is also the DVSA Official guide to LGV book that you can buy.
Once you have passed these you can come to us to do your practical driving.
